HI, I'M PAULA
Unlike the average newborn photographer, I didn't fall in love with newborn photography when I had my first baby. Instead like so many women, my fertility journey hasn't been as straight forward as I imagined it would be. But it is my personal fertility struggle that has led me into maternity and newborn photography. It is on those dark days when I am losing hope that I love to welcome expectant parents or newborns in front of my lens to remind me miracles do (and can still) happen.
Until I can call motherhood my reality I love nothing more than marvelling over your growing baby bump or capturing your newborn's peach fuzz, wispy hair, milk lips (and sneaking cuddles) during my sessions.
The unique journeys we all take to parenthood are the stories I love to capture and what drives my maternity and newborn photography.
WHAT IT'S LIKE TO WORK WITH ME
For most families, coming to my newborn studio is the first outing you'll have with your newest family member. From the moment you arrive you can simply sit back and relax cause you've already done the hardest part, getting out the house!
I have 14 years' experience in settling and posing babies so you can simply sit and watch, grab a coffee or even drift off for a while if you like until we need you in the photos (I won't be offended!)
When it comes time for you to be in the photos rest assured, I'm totally across the fact that around 95% of us are NOT comfortable in front of a camera at the best of times. But here we are also adding in the fact you're coming to see me either when you're nearing the end of your pregnancy or in your very early postpartum days when you're acutely aware of the changes in your body, you're tireder than you've ever been and feeling like a bit of a hot mess. Don't panic though I'VE GOT YOU!
I'll guide you through your session, there'll be no standing wondering where to look or what to do with your hands, I promise I won't ask you to "say cheese" or "make love to the camera". I'll direct you into positions that flatter, remove chins that aren't usually there and show off your beauty as I look for the those natural smiles and split second looks of love.
I tend to waffle away throughout my sessions, so hopefully you'll feel like you're just hanging out at a girlfriend's place. I do have to warn you I may whip out some of the corniest jokes you've heard since your last visit with your Dad but they're designed to make you forget there's a camera between us.
If this sounds like you, I'd love nothing more than the opportunity to photograph your bumps and babies, no matter how old they may be.

I'm a Kiwi now living in one of the coolest suburbs in one of the world's most livable cities Melbourne with a lovely Irishman who is my biggest cheerleader (until the All Blacks meet the Irish on the rugby field).
Before settling in Melbourne I moved around for a few years sampling different countries, cultures and lifestyles.
Children were the main focus of all my favourite jobs throughout this time - I spent 6 amazing years living, teaching and training teachers in Japan.
When living in London, I nannied two lovely girls and taught primary kids during the week while they were away at boarding school.
Over the past 14 years, I have taken all the fun elements and skills from those jobs and turned them into my perfect job as a newborn photographer at Paula Andrews Photography.
Good wine, good food, a good book, a day on the slopes, sport, slip slop slapping on a beach are all things besides photography and travel that put me in my happy place :)

I live, work and create on what was and always will be the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. I pay my respects to their elders past, present and emerging. I acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded.
